Mocha, the one who started it all!

A chocolate beagle named Leela began our lives filled with the love of dogs. Shortly after we rescued her, we quickly fell in love and wanted her to have a playmate. That’s when Leo, a lemon beagle, joined us in 2017. Leo & Leela were both happy together. We raised them both as puppies. A year later, we still felt a void. So we decided it was time for dog #3, but this time we wanted to get a dachshund. In summer 2018, Mocha came into our lives and started it all with our doxie pack!

In a few short years, our pack grew and grew. Today, we live with 13 beautiful, loving, happy & healthy dogs: 2 beagles, 11 longhaired dachshunds.

As we lived our daily lives blessed with unconditional love and affection, we started talking about the idea of becoming dachshund breeders. My husband and I had got used to the routine of taking care of a big pack of dogs. We were also fortunate to have more free time than some other couples, so we decided we wanted to take advantage of the opportunity and devote our time and attention into breeding and raising longhaired dachshunds. By 2020, we were already starting our program with the addition of Chance, Maya and Winston.

We moved back down to Florida in winter 2021. After Winston, we welcomed Tia, Minnie, Quest, Pebbles and Sunshine into the family. As of today we have 3 sires and 5 dams. All of our dogs are pets first! I love them all unconditionally and I’ve dedicated my time to caring for them.

A dachshund companion makes for a joyous life. I decided that I wanted to be a part of the experience and to help loving families unite with their new furry best friend. Dachshunds are one of the best breeds for household pets. They love without bias. They are quick learners and very intelligent. They may be small, but they are big at heart and can provide years and years of unconditional happiness. It is for all these reasons and more that I want to help continue and better the dachshund breed.

Enter: Dachshundly Perfect

I didn’t just want to be any ordinary breeder. I also didn’t want the population to cling onto the bad stigma often associated when one hears the phrase “dog breeder.” When done with great care and responsibility, quality dog breeding can be achieved and can also be quite rewarding.

I think any reasonable person can agree that when they want to welcome a new puppy into their lives, they want to be able to have confidence that the puppy will have a long life, free from genetic diseases or chronic illness. Taking care of a sickly dog can be expensive and time consuming. That’s why I want to do my very best to help my dogs create puppies as perfect as they can be – Dachshundly Perfect – you could say.

Our Mission

I envision the perfect dachshund as one that is not only free from any genetic disorders and chronic illnesses, but one that is well mannered with a calm temperament. A faithful dog with strong will and unconditional love. The mission at Dachshundly Perfect is to achieve just that!

To achieve the goal, no detail is overlooked. From even before pregnancy, I maintain my dogs’ health to be top quality so that when it’s time to breed, both our sires and dams will be strong enough to endure the gestation.

During pregnancy, my dams are treated like extra royalty (since they are already treated like queens to begin with!) I ensure they are comfortable and well fed with a balanced, high protein diet. High quality vitamins, too, play a pivotal role. I also pay careful attention to keep our pregnant dams out of harms way by limiting their strenuous activity later in the gestation. Mama is carrying precious puppies and it is my duty to make sure they are snug as a bug in there.

Another part of the mission is to ensure a smooth whelp. Obviously the events in life cannot be predicted, so it’s impossible to have smooth whelps 100% of the time. However there are plenty of steps that can be taken to mitigate any complications. I make sure to do all I can to help mama through the hard part. During whelp, I am there 24/7 and I never leave mama’s side!

And finally, post whelp. I still dedicate all of my time making sure those little puppies have all of their needs met (when mom can’t provide it all). It’s also my mission to make sure they grow happy, healthy and ready to move on to their new families. As soon as they go from scooching around to standing, I focus on training them to go to the pee pads to get them used to the routine. They can get the basics, but it’s up to the new family to continue the training.

Our Program

I strive to breed the perfect dachshund. I have centered my breeding program around achieving just that. My dogs are tested and confirmed for quality, free of genetic abnormalities and diseases. I also concentrate on temperament and conformation. A dog with a calm, disciplined personality can also be essential in preventing new owner headaches. Of course, a puppy is a puppy, but that’s where it all starts.

The breeding process is controlled and well documented. I also take care to take my dams to the vet for several prenatal checks to make sure they’re healthy enough to carry a litter. My pregnant dams are treated like queens and fed high protein diets and other supplements. They get extra love and attention to keep them calm and as stress free as possible through the gestation.

After the precious miracle of birth, I personally donate all my time to the care of the newborn puppies. I spent a lot of my time in the whelping box petting mom and making sure her babies are feeding. And yes, that does include many sleepless nights! Each puppy is weighed twice daily to make sure they are gaining appropriate weight. I make sure that mom is doing her duties: socializing and bonding with her babies, feeding them, cleaning and stimulating them. Watching the puppies grow and thrive each day is the most rewarding feeling.

Our Selection Process

Once you have done your research and you are convinced that you’d like to take home one of our Dachshundly Perfect puppies, your first step would be to reach out and express interest. There are several ways to get in contact with me. Click here to go to the Contact Us page.

After our initial conversation, I will email you a link to our new puppy application. Once you fill out the application, it will be reviewed and you will be notified. Please note that just because you are invited to fill out an application does not necessarily mean you will be approved to bring home one of our puppies.

If your application is approved- and if you are still confident and want to move forward – I will provide you with our puppy sale contract. Out of respect to other potential buyers, I give you 24 hours to review the contract. If everything looks good and you agree to my terms, you will sign the contract and send it to me. I also require a $300 non-refundable deposit at the time of contract signing as well. Once the deposit is confirmed, I will sign my portion of the contract and send it to you for your records. And that’s it! You’re puppy is reserved and will be ready to go home starting at 8 weeks old.

Options For Pick Up

Obviously the preferred method would be for you to drive to me and pick up the dog in person. The next best method would be to meet halfway. If flying, we can meet at one of 2 nearby airports (MCO or SFB) and you can pick up your puppy in the terminal. One other possible option would be we could fly the dog to your destination airport with a pet nanny that I provide. Please note that there will be extra costs associated with that method.

Also please note that I do NOT ship my puppies via air, ground, or by any other third party courier services.

Other Notes

Out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of the puppies, I do not permit any in-person visitations prior to pick-up day. However, I am open for a video call. Also, once you send the deposit and contract, I am willing to send updated photos and videos once a week on Fridays (this is in the application).

On pick up day, each puppy goes home with a puppy pack that includes essentials such as some dry food, poop bags, puppy pads, some treats, literature, and some Dachshundly Perfect promo items.

Our dogs are for pet only. Each puppy comes with limited AKC registration papers. I encourage you to look into registering with AKC as they have many helpful benefits including pet insurance and obedience training.
